VPG LaserOne Healthcare participated in the Urological Association of Asia Congress (UAA 2026) in Manila, Philippines, presenting its latest thulium fiber laser technologies for endourology and contributing to the congress scientific and live surgery programs.

Together with its partner Aljeron Medical Enterprises, VPG LaserOne welcomed urologists at Booths #45–46, where visitors could explore the company’s solutions for stone treatment and soft-tissue surgery:

High-power TFL in action at AUSET/ETS 2026

On September 4, the VPG Session “Beyond the Laser Wars: Personalizing Energy Selection from Stones to BPH” formed part of the AUSET/ETS 2026 scientific program.

Dr. Alim Dymov, MD, Dr.Sc. (Med.), Oncourologist, presented two semi-live surgical cases demonstrating the application of high-power thulium fiber laser technology across RIRS and prostate enucleation.

The cases were followed by an expert discussion that moved beyond laser power to practical questions of modern endourological surgery: AI-assisted parameter selection, Tissue Sensor technology, stone location, pulse characteristics, and how laser settings should be adapted during a procedure.

A key topic was the balance between intelligent assistance and surgeon control. The Urolase Vision System (UVS) analyzes the endoscopic image and can recommend initial laser parameters based on stone characteristics and location. These recommendations provide a starting point for the procedure, while the surgeon remains in control and can adjust the settings according to stone response, visibility and clinical needs.

The discussion also highlighted the role of Tissue Sensor during lithotripsy. The technology is designed to distinguish stone from soft tissue and stop laser emission when the fiber is directed away from the stone toward soft tissue, providing an additional safety mechanism in challenging situations such as impacted ureteral stones or limited working space.

For prostate enucleation, the discussion focused on vapor bubble dynamics, peak power, mechanical dissection and coagulation. DissectPulse was highlighted as a pulse mode combining mechanical dissection with coagulation, illustrating how pulse characteristics can be selected according to the surgical objective rather than laser power alone.

The discussion reinforced a broader principle behind intelligent laser technologies: smart systems are intended to support surgical knowledge and decision-making, not replace them.

Urolase MAX in live surgery

The clinical program continued on September 5 with ThuFLEP Live Surgery, performed by Dr. Alim Dymov, MD, Dr.Sc. (Med.), Oncourologist, using Urolase MAX.

The case demonstrated the versatility of a single TFL platform across several surgical tasks within one procedure.

Treatment began with a 2.0 cm bladder stone, followed by prostate enucleation. A total of 80 g of prostate tissue was enucleated and morcellated, followed by coagulation of the postoperative field. The entire multi-step procedure was completed in less than one hour.

During lithotripsy, Urolase MAX Tissue Sensor provided an additional safety mechanism by automatically stopping laser emission when soft tissue was detected. Laser settings were subsequently adapted as the procedure transitioned from stone treatment to prostate enucleation and hemostasis.

The case demonstrated how a single thulium fiber laser platform can support stone treatment, prostate enucleation and coagulation within one surgical workflow.

Expert discussion of surgical technique

The international expert panel particularly noted the clean operative field and clear visualization compared with other thulium laser systems, as well as the notably quieter operation of Urolase MAX compared with holmium laser systems.

The experts also discussed Dr. Dymov’s no-touch enucleation technique, noting its role in minimizing tissue carbonization and maintaining a clean surgical field.

The session was moderated by Arturo Castro Jr., MD, urologist from the Philippines, with Prof. Mehmet Ilker Gokce, Professor of Urology, Türkiye, and Dr. Tanet Thaidumrong, Rajavithi Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand, participating as panelists.

From technology to clinical workflow

VPG LaserOne’s participation at UAA 2026 brought together several aspects of modern TFL-based endourology: intelligent support for stone treatment, high-power laser performance, dedicated pulse modes for soft-tissue surgery and their practical application in the operating room.

The scientific discussions also emphasized an important principle behind the development of intelligent laser technologies: automation is intended to support surgical knowledge and decision-making, not replace them.

From semi-live RIRS and prostate enucleation to a multi-step live surgical case completed in under one hour, UAA 2026 provided an opportunity to demonstrate how VPG LaserOne technologies can be integrated across different stages of contemporary endourological practice.
